A Decade in Review: Fibula Free Flap for Mandibular Reconstruction

This study, the first of its kind, aims to describe the trends pertaining to the use of fibula free flap for mandibular reconstruction during the past decade. THANC identified 85 publications during a systematic review spanning from January 1, 2005 until December 31, 2014. Most notably, we observed a steady and significant increase in the number of publications and reported patients concerning this reconstruction—a trend which could be accounted for by the rising interest in restorative and surgical techniques, outcome studies, and CAD-CAM technology.
