Open or Closed Treatment of Adult Condylar Fractures?

This perspective piece aimed to provide an unbiased review and best practice protocol for one of greatest debates within maxillofacial trauma – open versus closed treatment of adult condylar fractures.  After extensive research, we concluded based on sound evidence that open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) leads to better functional and subjective outcomes in most condylar fracture cases.
