Metastatic Thyroid Carcinoma to the Parapharyngeal and Retropharyngeal Spaces

Systematic review with seven newly reported cases describing an uncommon presentation of a common disease

In this article, we investigate 239 cases of metastatic thyroid carcinoma to retropharyngeal and parapharyngeal (RP/PP) lymph nodes. The discussed metastases were identified in both the initial and recurrent setting. Surgical treatment is recommended because RP/PP metastases often signal high-risk disease.
