Transoral Anatomy of the Tonsillar Fossa and Lateral Pharyngeal Wall

Transoral robotic assisted surgery (TORS) is becoming increasingly recognized in the management of oropharyngeal cancer (OPC).  However, despite the increasing utilization of TORS in resecting oropharyngeal tumors, the medial to lateral anatomic area of the oropharynx is not well described. The THANC Foundation aims at describing the TOR anatomy of the tonsillar fossa and lateral pharyngeal wall (LPW) and to perform clinical and radiologic correlations so that a systematic training program can be developed.
