A surgeon, uncertain of the severity of their patient’s disease, can be faced with a number of difficult decisions. The goal of this study is to find out the best methods for predicting and determining how far cancer has invaded the jaw bone—hopefully, improving surgical planning and post-surgical treatment. Researchers will look at the predictive value of imaging scans to characterize tumor spread in the jaw and mouth. In addition, they will compare the pattern of cancerous soft tissue to the pattern of cancerous bone to see if there is any correlation.
