Although local tumor control and mortality rates of head and neck cancer have improved tremendously, the elimination of cancer can have devastating consequences such as the inability to eat and swallow normally. Over a twelve week double-blind, randomized controlled trial, the THANC Foundation aimed to investigate the efficacy of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), a highly sought after treatment for dysphagia.
