Support for People with Oral and
Head and Neck Cancer


SPOHNC, is a not-for-profit self-help organization that is dedicated to raising awareness of oral and head and neck cancer and to supporting cancer patients. By maintaining its National Survivor Volunteer Network and over 125 local chapters of support groups throughout the United States, SPOHNC strives to inform, connect and empower oral and head and neck cancer patients.

The THANC Foundation is pleased to sponsor a Manhattan chapter of SPOHNC. This support group meets monthly at the Institute for Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. Regularly scheduled meetings are held from 3:00-5:00 pm every fourth Thursday of the month at 10 Union Square East, Suite 5B, New York, NY. In November & December, the meetings are moved to the third Thursday due to the holidays.


Previous meetings have included guest speakers, patient open roundtable discussions, and information about topics such as pain management, medical insurance, and post-operative products.
