Five years ago, it was a shocking experience to receive my diagnosis. One never expects to hear the words, “You have cancer.” However, with the excellent care and attention of my surgeon and his staff, I am feeling well after two surgeries and am back to living an almost normal life.
At 72 years old, I have learned to exercise, play golf, and enjoy my family more, even more than I did before my surgery. It is critical to learn to face adversities and move forward with a positive attitude. Science has evolved greatly, and this should give us all great hope that we can live a much longer and more normal life.
Will You Share Your Journey?
April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month. As part of that theme, we post stories written by oral cancer survivors, caregivers and medical professionals for our 30 Stories in 30 Days™ campaign. The insights they share can help others along their journey.
