Gabby Urken

Gabby Urken, an inspiring educator at Horace Mann School, joins THANC’s Junior Board, bringing a unique blend of teaching expertise and a deep familial connection to THANC.

Gabby Urken is a passionate educator with a commitment to nurturing the holistic development of children. Holding a Masters in Education from Bank Street College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lehigh University, her academic journey equipped her with a profound understanding of the psychological aspects of learning. Currently serving as a 3rd-grade teacher at the Horace Mann School, she integrated the Pollyanna curriculum, which focuses on the knowledge, tools, and skills of racial literacy. Gabby prioritizes meeting each child where they are, ensuring a comprehensive approach to education.

In addition to Gabby’s role as an educator, she is thrilled to contribute her organizational skills and establish personal connections as she joins the THANC Foundation. The foundation holds a special place in her heart as her dad, known to most as Dr. Urken, serves as THANC’s medical advisor and founder. Witnessing his impactful contributions has been a constant source of inspiration. Gabby is eager to collaborate with the foundation’s first ever Junior board and continue the legacy of positive change that THANC has brought to the medical field. Gabby’s unique perspective as both an educator and a dedicated member of the THANC family fuels her passion for making a lasting impact on the well-being of the patients and their families.
