Thyroid journal has just released its “High-Impact Articles” list from its April 2016 issue. Among these high-impact articles are two publications written and coordinated by the THANC Foundation. In one of the articles, titled “The Impact of Metastatic Lymph Nodes on Risk Stratification in Differentiated Thyroid Cancer: Have We Reached a Higher Level of Understanding?”, Urken, et al. explore the obstacles and inconsistencies in reporting metastatic lymph nodes. The second article, written by Su, et. al and titled “Inter-Observer Variation in the Pathologic Identification of Minimal Extrathyroidal Extension in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma,” delves into the issue of various pathologists’ interpretations of specimens and disagreement on the histologic criteria for minimal extrathyroidal extension. All users have free access to these articles until April 14.
