Upright Versus Supine Positions With Videofluoroscopic in Healthy Subjects

Most of our current knowledge base on abnormal swallow mechanics is derived from videofluoroscopic (VFS) and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), however, no study has directly compared swallowing in upright and supine positions using VFS in healthy subjects.  In this article, the THANC Foundation reports on the differences in normal oropharyngeal swallowing in the upright versus the supine positions utilizing VFS in healthy individuals.
