Effect of Temporary Vocal Fold Injection Medialization on the Rate of Permanent Medialization Laryngoplasty
In patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP), injury to the vagus nerve or the recurrent laryngeal branch results in loss of functional vocal fold mobility. Temporary injection medialization can be performed to improve glottic closure while waiting for spontaneous recovery of motion or voice. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to determine the effect of temporary vocal fold injection medialization on the rate of permanent medialization laryngoplasty.
