A Tricky Diagnosis: a Rare Case of Myofibroma

Myofibroma is a rare, abnormal growth occurring in the head and neck of primarily infants and children. Although benign, the rapid growth pattern of myofibromas often leads to suspicion for malignancy creating potential for unnecessary and overaggressive surgical excision. This article presents a unique case of myofibroma in hopes of emphasizing the importance of accurate preoperative diagnosis using imaging and pathology to limit such excessive surgical management.
