Lisa’s Passion Project – Help to Fight Thyroid Cancer

One always thinks that it will never happen to them.  It was August 2015.  I remember thinking, “I have it all!” I had a great job in Advertising, was about to publish my first book, earned my BSN for my second career in Nursing as an RN.  A life partner, two wonderful children. What could be better?  And then I was diagnosed with metastatic Thyroid Cancer.  

By happenstance or perhaps I had angels watching over me, I was directed to Dr. Mark Urken, who is the President of the THANC Foundation and an amazing surgeon for Beth Israel/Mt Sinai and his team of experts to help me every step of the way. Truly a team of superb experts to work with you to craft a plan of attack that’s right for you.

Now it is two years later and I feel better than I have felt in a decade. Cancer free. I am stronger and healthier and ready to help the THANC foundation succeed in their plight…fighting and eradicating Thyroid Head and Neck Cancer.

I am running a race to help the foundation on Sunday October 29, 2017 by Firefighers Field at Roosevelt Island.  Please help me to fight this specifc type of cancer.  Come join us for  the “Spooktacular Madness” on Roosevelt Island!
